Over the weekend of May 27-29, 2022, JERO’s representatives immersed themselves in the beauty and cultural richness of Bologna, Italy, to attend JE Italy’s May Meeting 2022 (JEIMM 22), successfully hosted by fellow Junior Enterprises JEBO and JEMP. The JE Italy May Meeting is one of the annual national gatherings of the Italian Junior Enterprises network.
This year’s May Meeting, named “Grow your echo: thoughts on our common future,” focused on sustainability across the board. One of the main topics the May Meeting highlighted is that sustainability does not only concern the environment but also the economy and society. The event aimed at reflecting upon what it means to be a sustainable enterprise – and how to become one – with the mission to educate and prepare the conscious leaders of tomorrow.
The weekend-long event mainly took place in the fascinating Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, the oldest university in continuous operation worldwide and the best public university in Italy to date. There, JEBO and JEMP scheduled a series of activities in line with the overall theme of the May Meeting, from workshops and business games with Italian and international companies to company fairs and networking opportunities for all the attendees. Some of the companies that partnered with JE Italy for the May Meeting activities include EY, Decathlon Italy, Auxiell, and Lavoropiù.
Like every May Meeting, JE Italy also used this opportunity to hold their annual Excellence Awards, the Italian Awards for Junior Enterprises. On Friday, May 27, this year’s finalists presented their JEs to the Excellence Awards jury in the categories: Best JE, Best Project, Shared Growth, Sustainable Development, and Best Junior Initiative (JI). As a finalist for the Best JI award, JERO was brilliantly pitched in front of the jury and all attendees.
JERO wins Best Junior Initiative 2022
On Saturday, May 28, JE Italy welcomed us to its Gala Night, which included the much-awaited Excellence Awards 2022 ceremony. In the beautiful and historical location of Villa Zarri, just outside the center of Bologna, JE Italy reunited with some of its partners – Startup Geeks, Auxiell, GoStudent, NEXiD, and GELLIFY – to finally award the winners chosen by the jury for each category.
We are honored to announce that, on this occasion, JERO was awarded the Best Junior Initiative of 2022 in the Italian Junior Enterprises network. This award is exceptionally important and special for us as it recognizes our efforts in creating JERO, launching it as a thriving Junior Initiative, and our success in turning it into a promising Junior Enterprise.
JERO was born in 2020, and it is simply incredible that we have achieved so much in only two years and during a pandemic. Receiving this award has motivated and inspired all of us to continue doing what we do and carrying out our mission, which is, more than anything, to grow both as individuals and professionals.
We especially want to thank JE Italy and Startup Geeks for believing in us and our project and further congratulate our team for making it all happen. To say we are proud of ourselves would be an understatement, and we trust we will achieve much more. We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us because we are more than ready to face it.
